A System 7.x Finder enhancement that extends Get Info command functionality allowing you to see and edit a file's type, creator, and other attributes.
How do I use Snitch?
Just drop it into your System Folder and Restart. Select a file on your desktop, then choose Get Info from the File Menu on any file or alias. Currently, Snitch does not appear when getting info on a folder or volume.

When there are several Info windows open, a button entitled "Change All" will enable at the bottom of the Snitch portion of the window. Clicking this button will change all open info windows with Snitch in them to match the window currently in front. This makes it easy to quickly change the type, creator, and attributes for a number of files, but keep in mind it's not undo-able.
ITS A FEATURE NOT A BUG
-----------------------
Here's a feature even I don't like: Any time a file's type, creator, or attributes are changed, the file's icon will move. This is most obvious when the file is located on the Desktop. This annoyance is necessary in order to get the Finder to immediately update itself so that the file can be displayed with its new icon or become invisible, etc.
For those using System 7.1, I have a nice sneaky solution to this problem... Pssst, come here.....within Snitch is a resource called 'sknk' which has a flag labeled "Use Skanky Hack". When this is selected, it will cause the Finder to update immediately and not move the file's icon. The only problem is that the file's new icon will overlap the old icon, but that's a small price to pay to get it to do what it should have done in the first place. Although it doesn't seem to cause any problems, this hack doesn't seem to work under System 7.1 Pro and probably won't under future systems either. Fixed about box from flashing.

BETA NOTES
-----------
Snitch is coming up on its first birthday, and it seems fitting that it should be let loose upon the world. Although it still is in beta, it is very stable, and all of the problems I am aware of are purely graphical or interface in nature. I know of no crashes or conflicts from using it, but I'll keep it in beta until it has been used by more than just the dozen or so that have it now. So, if you like Snitch, please drop me a line, especially if you have suggestions or problems. I use the thing all the time, and I want to make it as reliable as possible.
VERSION HISTORY
----------------
1.0b6 First release to the world. Only known bug causes info window to shrink to original size if the file is moved while the window is open.
1.0b7 Fixed incompatibility with Alladin's Magic Menu. Fixed problem where the type, creator, and attributes were greyed out when they shouldn't have been. Now they are only greyed out when the file is really locked or is on a locked volume. Fixed problem where the checkboxes would display in whatever font was selected in the Views Control Panel. Fixed problem where the info window would resize if the file was moved, though at this point, any changes made will not be saved since Snitch won't know where the file has been moved to. Cleaned up some of the code; this should help it be more compatible. Fixed localization problems: Any system that uses a Roman script should be able to use Snitch. Fixed bug with The Debugger and NEC multi-dpi screen. Fixed problem in about box.
USING SNITCH ON NON-ENGLISH SYSTEMS
------------------------------------
Snitch should work fine on non-english systems that use a Roman script. In order for Snitch to operate, two strings need to be changed in its resource fork: The name of the "File" menu and the name of the "Get Info" menu item need to match whatever they are for that countries Finder. The resource is of type 'STR#' and its ID is 130.
